Japanese Poster Exhibition
DJ Academy of Design, Coimbatore is hosting an exhibition of contemporary Japanese posters at its campus from 28th March to 11th April, 2016. The exhibition, curated by the Japan Foundation, New Delhi, is traveling for the first time to a South Indian city. It showcases 75 high quality posters designed by 15 renowned graphic designers from the Bubble Economy period of Japan. The posters deal with a variety of themes from environmental consciousness to globalised culture. According to the Foundation, the fifteen poster artists introduced in the exhibition have been chosen for their strong consciousness of the poster as social art. The exhibition showcases pioneering works of Yusaku Kamekura (Hiroshima Appeals) to more contemporary approaches of Ikko Tanaka.
